Neath the cauldrons of doom where the charcoals of hell burn in eternity, you had slipped through the cracks of swirling hellfire and plummeted into the abyss. When you awoke, you found yourself at the feet of an ancient demon encased in ice. Its wispy voice rasped to you:

"Hope not ever to see Heaven! I stand here to guide you to the other shore into eternal darkness:

abandon all hope all ye who enter!"

Now, you must travel into Dis, the dark underbelly of hell, where you must begin your dangerous pursuit for salvation.

The Chilling Winds of Dis is the twenty second edition of the Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping Series, or PUSS for short. Back in 2022 we had talks of running an alternate theme for our December event in lieu of another Christmas project (cause who really wanted even more days of doommas!) The plan then became that we would have a properly chilling event for the winter that would boast a brand new resource pack featuring a few hundred custom textures by @muumiand an entirely bespoke redecorated bestiary and decoration set from @Captain Toenail, @horselessheadsman, @Lina. @Peccatum Mihzamiz, @myolden, @INfront95, and myself in addition to some sprites from @Amuscariaand realm667 (see textfile for more information).

This resource pack would plunge mappers into the terrible realm of Dis, a frozen and dark wasteland nestled deep below the blackest reaches of Hell's lowest plains. It has gotten so dark and frigid that the unfortunate demons that dwell here have adapted to not require eyesight and walk in horrible forms brutalized by sub zero temperatures and icy winds of darkness and despair and torment and stuff! Rather bleak if you ask me!

Speaking of bleak! A note about some of these textures is that we had used AI to generate them to create very strange and bewildering images. Were I to start a project today, I'd not even consider using AI, but as far as excuses go, it was 2022 I was ignorant and AI images looked like dogshit and worked for what we needed. It's been 3 years and since then I've seen positions on job boards for writers go from technical writers and copywriters to AI speech trainers and content farmers now to practically nothing. I don't really want to open up an argument about the unethics of the software in this thread, nor do I want to have this wad's or PUSS' reputation tainted by something so controversial, but since I believe in honesty I want to be upfront that although there was a great deal of effort to replace larger generated images such as the titlepic/interpic with handmade images for the project some years later, there are still textures that we hadn't addressed for several reasons (time mainly, and since mappers have already used them among them). Just wanted to put that out there. All of our sprites are handmade but some of the marbfaces aren't.
